India's Uflex Ltd. To Invest $283 Million In Capacity Expansion, Solar-Energy Power Generation Project

Uflex Ltd. (Uflex), India’s largest flexible-packaging materials company, says it will invest about $283 million (Rs1,700 crore) in Uttar Pradesh (UP), to enhance its flexible-packaging converting capacity and for setting up a solar-power project for in-house power generation.

The investment in manufacturing-capacity enhancement will procure machinery and capital equipment such as flexographic-printing presses, different types of lamination machines, inspection equipment, slitting/rewinding systems, and utilities such as boilers, heating systems, chillers, generators, etc. The total capital commitment for this project will be about $83 million (Rs500 crore) in a phased plans, on 75 acres of land and will employ 500 people.

Secondly, the company plans to invest about $200 million (Rs1,200 crore) on a solar-energy project for captive power consumption. The project will be on 300 acres of land and employ 250 people.
